Which Council Areas Do We Cover?
Local knowledge of every council's DCPs and LEPs across the Northern Rivers.
Ballina Shire
Private certification, pool fence inspections, and dilapidation reports across Ballina, Lennox Head, Alstonville, Wollongbar, and Wardell. We work regularly with Ballina Shire Council's DCP and understand their flood-prone land requirements and coastal building setbacks.
Byron Shire
Full certification services for Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Brunswick Heads, Bangalow, and Ocean Shores. Byron Shire has some of the most complex planning overlays in the region — including coastal hazard, heritage, and biodiversity zones — and we navigate them daily.
Tweed Shire
Servicing Tweed Heads, Murwillumbah, Kingscliff, Cabarita Beach, Pottsville, and surrounds. The Tweed region's rapid residential growth and proximity to the QLD border creates unique cross-jurisdiction considerations we're well-versed in.
Lismore City
Comprehensive building certification across Lismore, Goonellabah, South Lismore, and The Channon. Following the 2022 floods, Lismore has updated flood planning levels and building requirements — our certifiers are across the latest council amendments and reconstruction standards.
Richmond Valley
Certification and inspection services for Casino, Evans Head, Coraki, and Woodburn. We handle everything from rural residential builds to agricultural structures, working closely with Richmond Valley Council's specific DCP conditions.
Kyogle
Servicing Kyogle, Bonalbo, and the surrounding rural hinterland. Rural properties often require bushfire attack level (BAL) assessments and onsite wastewater considerations — both areas we're experienced in.
Clarence Valley
Building certification from Grafton to Yamba, Maclean, and Iluka. The Clarence Valley's river frontage and flood-prone areas require careful compliance with council's flood risk management plan — something we assess on every project in this region.
Is There a Building Certifier Near Me?
If your site sits anywhere between Tweed Heads and Grafton, yes. East Coast Building Consultants certify across seven Northern Rivers council areas from two offices — Byron Bay and Lismore — which puts most of the region within about an hour's drive. All three services are available throughout: private certification, dilapidation reports and pool barrier inspections.

Service Area FAQs
Is there a building certifier near me in Northern NSW?
If you are anywhere between Tweed Heads and Grafton, yes. We work across seven council areas from two offices — Byron Bay and Lismore — which puts most of the Northern Rivers within about an hour's drive. Send us your address and we will confirm coverage and likely inspection lead time.
Which office should I contact?
Either — we operate as one team and the enquiry gets routed to whoever is closest to your site. Byron Bay (37/5 Easy Street) suits the coastal strip from Tweed to Ballina; Lismore (5/70 Woodlark Street) suits the hinterland, Richmond Valley, Kyogle and the run south toward the Clarence Valley.
Do you travel to rural and hinterland properties?
Yes. Rural blocks are a routine part of the work and often bring requirements coastal sites do not — bushfire attack level assessment and onsite wastewater considerations in particular. Kyogle, Nimbin, Bonalbo, Coraki and the surrounding hinterland are all within our service area.
How quickly can you get to site for an inspection?
Most inspections across the seven council areas are scheduled within a few days, and we book outside standard office hours where a build cannot afford to wait. Sites closer to Byron Bay or Lismore are naturally quicker to reach than the far ends of the Clarence Valley.
Do you cover the Gold Coast or anywhere in Queensland?
No. Our accreditation is a NSW registration under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, so we certify in New South Wales only. We do work right up to the border in Tweed Heads, where cross-jurisdiction questions come up regularly.
Which services do you offer across the whole region?
All three: private certification (Construction Certificates and CDCs), dilapidation reports, and pool barrier inspections under the Swimming Pools Act 1992. There is no part of our service area where we offer only some of them, though inspection scheduling is naturally quicker nearer the two offices.
